Meeting “n” bonding - A Professor from University of Agriculture, Faislabad (UAF) in Pakistan, Dr. Hafiz Abdul Qayyum was in city for an alumni association meeting of PAU’s college of agriculture met his old friend’s son Harpreet Sandhu at Ludhiana on 22nd December, 2012.

It was moment of  surprise  for Trilochan Singh Sandhu , when he got a call from Dr Qayyum on 22nd DEC 2012 and he mentioned being in Ludhiana. A spirit of bonhomie and brotherhood pervaded with 87 year old Dr. Hafiz Abdul Qayyum accompanied by his son Prof. Dr. Khalid Mustafa when they met Harpreet Sandhu, Ludhiana based Lawyer and Former Additional Advocate General, Punjab who is son of Trilochan Singh Sandhu, Former Estate Officer, PAU  and a close friend of Dr. Hafiz Abdhul Qayyum).

Recollecting their old association with Ludhiana based Sandhu family, Dr. Hafiz Qayyum said that whenever Harpreet Sandhu’s father had been visiting Faislabad he had been a family member visitor with them and it was in 1982 that Dr. Hafiz Abdul Qayyum his son Prof. Dr. Khalid Mustafa had taken Harpreet Sandhu’s father to Chak 51 village it is there before partition where Harpreet Sandhu’s grandfather Late Buta Singh Sandhu was the Tehsildar there.

In fact, December 22, 2012 meeting brought more warmth and affection between  both families as Dr. Hafiz Abdul Qayyum son who is working as Director Institute of Business Management Sciences (IBMS), University of Agriculture, Faislabad  Prof. Dr. Khalid Mustafa and Trilochan Singh Sandhu’s son Harpreet Sandhu, Ex Additional Advocate General, Punjab met and shared the value of family quittance for decades and rather felt that it is very essential to carry further the relation of families across the border and make sure that the moral values of the elders are respected and the same will be followed by the coming generation.

It was a matter of pride for Harpreet Sandhu to present his book “German Indian Law- A Comparative Study” to Prof. Dr. Hafiz Abdul Qayyum. It was a very emotional touch when Prof. Dr. Hafiz Abdul Qayyum presented traditional gifts to Harpreet Sandhu for his family.

Harpreet Sandhu really felt proud that he met a family from Faislabad which was known to his father for last three decades and also shared that the bitterness that we often hear about is just restricted to the political establishment of the two countries.
