Retail inflation at 3-month high in April

New Delhi, May 12 (IANS) Led by higher food prices, India's retail inflation rose to a three-month high of 8.59 percent in April from 8.31 percent in the previous month, government data showed Monday.

According to data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the Consumer Price Indices (CPI) based inflation rates for rural and urban areas for April 2014 were 9.25 percent and 7.69 percent, respectively.

Inflation rates for rural and urban areas for March 2014 were 8.89 percent and 7.51 percent, respectively.
