Jalandhar, September 26, 2019: On the second day of 5 day Film Appreciation Course going on in Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in collaboration with Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, the aspirants studied about the main factors of Silent Movies.

Milind Damle, Head, T.V.Direction, FTII, Pune addressing his young and enthusiastic audience put forth that during the film making primarily the work begins on concept, situation incidents, imagination and plot. Emphasizing the importance of screen play writer, he put forth that during the screen play, he/she needs to take care of each and everything and needs to pen down even the intricate details. He/she needs to write everything from the position of actors, their expression, dialogues to the minute details of describing the background. He added that sometimes different people do the task of writing, dialogue writing and screenplay writing; and sometimes a single person could also handle these tasks. He further taught his students that after all these tasks are completed with utter dedication; then comes the result and award in the form of evergreen dialogues and characters portrayed by the actors with delicacy and care. He gave an illustration of many famous dialogues and characters as – Gabber, Kaliya etc.

Alumni of FTII, Film Maker, Electronic Media, Consultant and the Course Coordinator 5 day. Film Appreciation Course – Pankaj Saxena enlightened students taught student about the Indian and Western History of Silent Cinema. He put forth that expressions are the key during silent movies and are mainly focused on.

Hearing out the able experts, students asked questions as well like “Is it is feasible for actors to bring a change is the already written concepts?” To which Milind Damle answered – such possibilities are rare in the Film World; however in theatre arts such changes by actors can be introduced.

Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma opined that it is really satisfying to see students learning under the experts from the actual industry. In today’s time classroom teaching is not sufficient; in fact they need to have an access to the pragmatic roads to become successful tomorrow.

She added that Apeejay has always been in forefront to offer such opportunities for its students. This move of collaborating with FTII is also being proven beneficial for the students. She appreciated the efforts of Mr. Varinder Singh, Head and Ankit Goel, Department of Multimedia for the smoothly concluding the second day of the course.
