Ferozepur, January 8, 2013:  Ferozepur being a border district has become one of the biggest transit points as well as consumers of narcotics, drugs and controlled psychotropic substances and with enhanced vigil and better domination of BSF 45 Battalion, got another success in the seizure contraband of 11 kg heroin of the value of Rs.55 crore in the international market besides fake Indian currency notes of about Rs.12 lakhs.

According to DIG BSF, retired Brig. KPS Rana, under the supervision of BSF 45 Bn Commanding Officer, R. K. Sharma, the BSF jawans have seized contraband of 11 kg heroin and fake Indian currency of Rs.11,90,500 in Khalra area of Ferzepur Sector.

He said, due to dense fog these days, the security arrangements o Indo-Pak border were intensified and BSF officials got a secret information that in the Khalra area of BOP, a big consignment of heroin and fake Indian currency, is being passed on by the Pakistan smugglers to the India side.

He further said that today in week hours at about 4.20 AM, the Pakistan smugglers near the Pillar No.131/4, when started the shifting of the consignment by fixing the plastic pipe over the fencing across the electrocuted barbed wire, the BSF jawans on duty, challenged to cry and seeing their alertness, Pakistani smugglers left the place. 

Sources said that when under the supervision of R. K. Sharma, Commanding Officer, a search operation was carried out, 15 packets were found, out of which 11 packets contain heroin and four packets of fake Indian currency notes of Rs.11,90,500. 

He informed that the value of the confiscated heroin is Rs.55 crore in the international market. 

On this occasion, DC (G) Marker Masih was also present.
