Ludhiana, May 8, 2015: Representatives from many social organizations of Ludhiana who are concerned about the welfare of its citizens who include Gurcharan Kocher and Jeet Kumari from Punjab Istri Sabha, Kusum Lata, Avtar Kaur and Barjinder Kaur from working women forum, Major Sher Singh Aulukh and Bhatia from BJGVJ and others expressed concern about the sufferings of pregnant ladies, children and poor people because of Specialist's doctors continuous strike in civil hospital. There are many people in Ludhiana for whom civil hospital is the only choice of place of treatment. Due to the strike they are forced to go to private hospitals for treatment. They said that government should intervene fast and listen to the demands of doctors to alleviate the sufferings of patients.
They also requested Specialist doctors association to call off their strike in the interest of public. They also said that many government doctors are doing private practice but where the poor patients will go, and welcomed PMC’s initiatives to restore medical ethics in the health care. These steps will regain doctor-patients relationships, they opined.
