Rajya Sabha MP, Manohar Singh Gill sanctioned Rs.50 lakh for Construction of Girls Hostel

Ludhiana, September 2, 2015: Keeping in view the acute shortage of the Girls Hostel facility at SCD Government College Ludhiana, Alumni of the SCD Government College Ludhiana and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament S.Manohar Singh Gill has sanctioned Rs. 50,00,000 to construct a girls hostel facility at SCD Government College Ludhiana out to Member Parliament Local Area Development  (MPLAD) Scheme. The release of funds for constructing extension of girls hostel facility, will serve the students who are coming to get post graduation education from the far off places. While releasing the funds for this purpose, Dr. Gill has said that girls education is top priority and every citizen of the must play its own part to ensure it. He said with the construction of new hostel which can house 50 more girls,  the dream of “Beti Padao” will come true. It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Manohar Singh Gill is very liberal to the SCD Government College Ludhiana while sanctioning funds to this college . Earlier also it was with the help of Dr. Gill that college was able to start computer education and two Labs were constructed from the funds released out of MPLAD scheme. Dr. Gill has instructed the Department of Panchyati Raj and Rural Development to complete the task of constructing the girls hostel with in time framework so that the facility of hostel can be extended to the girls as early as possible. In the telephone to the Principal of the SCD Government College Ludhiana, Dr. Gill has instructed to  supervise the construction work personally and ensure quality work. The Principal, Staff and students of the college has personally extended gratitude towards Dr. Gill for sanctioning the grant for the college.
