QIP FDP on Energy conservation and alternative sources of energy begins
Ludhiana, January 29, 2019: Under able guidance & leadership of Ms. Shena Agarwal ADCCD. A faculty development program under Quality Improvement Program on Energy conservation & Alternative sources of energy began today at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana. This week long program organized by Electrical Engineering department of the college will feature experts from industry & academic alongwith an exhibition on Non Conventional sources of energy.
The program was inaguarated by Dr. Pardeep Rajan, Principal Scientist, CSIR- CMGRI, Ludhiana with Sh. Anupam Nanda, Sr-DM, PEDA & Ms. Sangita Kapoor, IDE, Kolkata as Guest of Honor. Pf. Shivani Arora welcomed the guests. Giving an insight into the program. DR. Arvind Dhingra, Coordinator, ECASE’19 said that Energy is the area of main focus for all engineering disciplines and in order to prolong use of conventional sources of energy we need to shift to non- conventional sources of energy. Pf. Jaswinder Singh Sra, HOD (Electrical) said more than 35 participants from colleges around Ludhiana, Hissar, Rohtak, Chandigarh & other parts of Punjab are participating in the program. In his address Sh. Anupam Nanda, Sr. DM, PEDA introduced the audience to various schemes being run by PEDA under aegis of MNRE. He said Punjab was moving at a great spped to harvess solar energy having more than 900MW of solar Power. In his presidential address, Dr. Pardeep RajanPrincipal Scientist, CSIR- CMERI, the chief guest elightened the audience about various initiatives of CSIR- CMERI, the chief guest elightened the audience about various initiatives of CSIR in area of non-conventional energy. He cited projects on Bio diesel from Jatro pha , energy from plastic. He said that Punjab alone was producing more than 10 million tones of paddy waste which could produce enough energy to overcome power shortape. He also ted the ambitious project of generating 1 GW of solar power through solar trees along National highway. He exhorted the participants to come up with scaleable Non- conventional energy projects. He also introduces participants to Haryana government initiative of solar irrigalism which could be replicated. All these projects are coming up under start up India.
In his address, Dr. Sehijpal Singh, Principal said that QIP Program were a regular feature in the college and this program was 6th in the service for this year. He congratulated the department of electrical engineering for choosing a theme relevant to all branches of engineering. Pf. Harmeet Singh Gill, Co-coordinator of the program out lined the schedule of the program proposing vote of thanks, Dr. Navneet Singh Bhangu Co-coordinator said thet it was team effort and he thanked the experts who were travelling from Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh to be with audience in coming days.
