Ashwani Sekhri to meet CM Punjab on 20th June to raise the issues of unaided Colleges
Ludhiana, June 19, 2019: Due to the non-payment of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) funds for SC students either from the Centre Govt or State Govt, over 1600 Unaided Colleges of Punjab have made their mind not to admit SC students from session 2019-20.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, Spokesman, JAC said that till now the funds of 2015-16 have been disbursed to the Colleges. The funds for 2016-17 are not fully disbursed while the funds for 2017-18 and 2018-19 are fully pending. Due to this delay, Colleges are facing problem to give admission to the SC Students in 2019-20.
Kataria further added that all JAC Directors have briefed Chairman JAC about the matter and Ashwani Sekhri would be raising these issues with Cm Punjab in the meeting to be held on 20th June (Tomorrow)
It is to be mentioned that in the meeting held recently in Ludhiana under the leadership of S. Jagjit Singh, President, B.Ed Federation has declared that they will charge fees from SC Students as the B. Ed is just 2 years course and the the amount comes to the student account after the completion of the course. The colleges have to run pillar to post to get the money back from students/Govt
The other JAC directors including S. Manjit Singh, Vice President, Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association; Mr. Charanjit Walia, President, Nursing Colleges Association; Sh. Anil Chopra, Confederation of Punjab Unaided Institutions; S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Academic Advisory Forum (AAF); S. Nirmal Singh, ETT Federation; Mr. Jasnik Singh, B.Ed. Association, PU; S. Sukhmander Singh Chatha, Punjab Unaided Degree Colleges Association (PUDCA); Mr. Shimanshu Gupta, ITI Association; S Rajinder Dhanoa, Polytechnic Association; Sh. Vipin Sharma, Confederation of Unaided Colleges Association; Dr. Satwinder Sandhu, B.Ed Association GNDU Colleges etc have also asserted that it is becoming tough for the colleges to survive without the nonpayment of SC funds.
