Chandigarh, October 9, 2015: The Punjab Government has sought information regarding old and condemned vehicles from all the departments, Divisional Commissioners and deputy Commissioners immediately to prepare a new policy for the disposal of these vehicles.
A spokesman said that many departments have declared official vehicles as condemned after completing time limit and kilometres covered by these vehicles. He said that the process adopted by most of the departments to sell the condemned vehicles has been going on a snail's pace. He said that this lackadaisical approach has resulted in huge financial loss to the state exchequer. To expedite the whole exercise, information regarding the old and condemned vehicles from all the departments sought.
