PUNJAB POLICE SOLVES MOGA PARCEL BOMB EXPLOSION, NABS ACCUSED FROM ODISHA
PERSONAL ENMITY OVER LAND DISPUTE WAS REASON FOR BOMB BLAST Chandigarh, October 4, 2018: The Punjab Police on Thursday solved the case of explosion that occurred in a courier shop at Chamber Road, Moga, on September 26 and arrested one Rajbir Rajjiyana of Odisha. Rajbir alias Raj s/o Rajinder Rajjiyana R/o Basanti Colony, Rurkewala, District Sundergarh, Odisha, had planned the explosion over a family land dispute in Sangrur district. Disclosing this here today, a police spokesperson said since the parcel was addressed to Bhupesh Rajeana, Rajeana House, Patiala Gate, Sangrur, hence, Raj, along with his family members, was asked to join the investigation and various angles of family dispute were meticulously examined. During the course of the investigation, it was found that the mother-in-law of Bhupesh Rajeana was murdered in 2016 and this aspect was also minutely scrutinized, which provided a vital clue to solving the incident. CCTV footage was shown to Bhupesh Rajeana, who identified the suspect as Rajbir Rajjiyana and further disclosed that Baljit Saroop Rajeana had two sons namely Malwinder Saroop and Rajinder Saroop. He told police that he was the grandson of Malwinder Saroop, whose son was his father namely Dalip Rajjiytana. Rajbir Rajjiyana @ Raj was the son of Rajinder Saroop. Bhupesh told police that his family’s property was situated at village Kheri, District Sangrur and they a house opposite Ranbir College Sangrur. There was a family dispute regarding partition of the property, he said. At the beginning of 2018, Rajbir Rajjiyana @ Raj had visited Sangrur to settle the dispute, but failed to resolve the matter. Following the identification of the suspect, a police party led by DSP Investigation Moga Harinder Singh was dispatched to Rourkela in district Sundergarh, Odisha. Consequently, the accused Rajbir Rajjiyana alias Raj was arrested on October 2, with the help of Punjab State Intelligence Wing and Sundergarh district police. The transit remand of the accused for five days was obtained from the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sundergarh (Odisha) and further investigations are in progress. The spokesperson further revealed that the accused Rajbir Rajjiana alias Raj had disclosed that he stayed at Modern guest house opposite Railway Station, Jalandhar from September 20 to 28. On October 4, he was taken to Modern guest house where the Forensic Science team also joined the police party to get to the bottom of the case. The Forensic Science team is closely examining the room of guest house, where the accused had prepared the IED/Parcel bomb. It may be recalled that the owner of the shop Vikas Sood s/o Gian Chand R/o House No. 539, Street No. 9, Mohalla Kishanpura Moga and a customer Rakesh Kumar S/o Om Parkash, r/o Street No.5, Jawahar Nagar Moga sustained injuries in the explosion. On the statement of Vikas Sood, a case FIR No. 210 dated 26.09.2018, u/s 307, 427, 120-B IPC and 3/4 Explosive Substances Act, 1908 PS City South Moga was registered and initial investigation was conducted. Subsequently, a Special Investigation Team was constituted to further investigate the case. During investigation, four teams, each headed by an Inspector, was formed on September 27 to collect CCTV footage of the suspect who had deposited the box as a parcel. The suspect was located at three to four different places in the CCTV cameras installed near the place of incident. Next day, the area of CCTV footage search was increased and the suspect was located in more than twelve CCTV cameras. His route from Bus Stand to Sood courier and back was also established, added the spokesperson.
