Talwandi Sabo, July 17, 2014: Guru Kashi University organised a seminar on drip irrigation in collaboration with Mohindra EPC Industries Ltd. Dr.R.K.Bansal, (Dean Research), Dr.A.S.Sidhu Dean University College of Agriculture, Dr.D.R.Godara Dean Student Welfare, Dr.B.S.Chahal (Professor of Horticulture), Dr.Daljit Singh (Professor of Vegetable Crops), Dr.A.L.Sharma (Assistant Professor of Entomology), D.K.Sharma and Sanjeet Yadav (Agronomist Green House) participated in the seminar.
Dr.Godara introduced the speaker and other participants. In the seminar Dr. Vilas Tajane Agronomist from EPC Industries ltd. explained the effects of drip irrigation in different crops such as Fruits, vegetable crops and rice crop. The speaker was of the view that drip irrigation apart from saving of irrigation water has the advantage of efficient use of fertilizers and increasing crop productivity. Drip irrigation has a great scope for arresting falling water table, through saving of irrigation water, making efficient use of fertilizers and increasing crop productivity and income of farmers. After through discussion in the seminar, the scientists were of view that drip irrigation technology is very useful in widely spaced crops.
