Punjab News/Guru Kashi University adds another feather to its cap

Talwandi Sabo, November 14, 2013: Guru Kashi University adds another feather to its cap for being chosen by solar Radiation Resource Assessment Centre for Wind Energy Technology, Chennai for setting up of SRRA Station at a cost of Rs. 2.50 crore in private sector, which is the first one of its kind in Punjab. 

The SRRA station set up on the roof top of Agriculture Department was inaugurated by Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, Chairman. This project is fully sponsored by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India and is being implemented by Center for wind energy, technologies, Chennai.
The SRRA Station is an automatic stand-alone system having about more than 25 instruments & equipments of international quality manufactured in Germany. All the equipments and instruments gather a host of information (measuring about 37 parameters) on solar and metrological parameters every minute and will automatically transmit it to a server established at C-WET, Chennai through GPRS technology. The data required for any Research & Development activities of the University can be accessed from it. A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the University & C-WET and Guru Kashi University to ensure the data confidentiality and continuation, in the project for a minimum of 5 years.
Dr. N.S Malhi, Vice Chancellor stated that this instrument will be extremely useful for the scientists as well as for farming community & help them in finalizing cropping pattern. Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Director (Planning & Development) stated that Guru Kashi University is the first one among the private university for being selected for the installation of this station.
Apart from the others Sukhraj Singh Sidhu, Managing Director, Satish Goswami, Registrar, Dr. Narinder Singh, Director (Campus), Dr. B.S Dhaliwal, Dean (Academics), Olympian Dr. Tarlok Singh Sidhu, Director (sports), Dr. A.K Kansal, Dean (Education), Dr. D.R Godara, Dean Agriculture, Prof. Ashwani Sethi, Deputy Registrar, Prof. Amit Tuteja, Prof Pardeep Mittal & S. Hardam Singh Mansa were also present.
