Mohali, December 8, 2014: Canadian Immigration Authorities have come up with revamped immigration program for skilled workers named Express Entry that a points- based system directly linked to the employment needs of Canada.
Lt Col BS Sandhu (retd), CMD, WWICS Group said that this was fastest ever Canadian Immigration Program catering to Permanent Residency of Skilled Workers.
“Unlike the Federal Skilled Worker Program, this program has no Priority Occupation List, therefore, a vast pool of skilled workers can apply for permanent residency under this program. This program is moving away from passive processing to employment based system,” he said.
He added that with the advent of this system, the authorities would be able to select the best candidates who are most likely to succeed in Canada, rather than those who happen to be first in line, as was the case prior to the introduction of Express Entry system.
With the new Express Entry skilled immigration system, applicants from across the world who qualify under Federal Skilled Worker Program/ Canadian Experience Class/ Federal Skilled Trades Program or a portion of Provincial Nominee Program would be invited to apply for permanent residency by the authorities. The qualifying criteria to receive the invitation varies from program to program.
The points based Express Entry is directly linked to the employment needs of Canada. This is a merit-based immigration system, in which 50% of points are straight-away allotted to those candidates who have a valid Job offer/ nomination certificate duly approved by government authorities in Canada and are much quickly invited to apply for Permanent Residency.
For people to qualify under the FSWP and FSTP, the candidate must have an employment offer approved by the competent authorities in Canada whereas, to apply for PR under PNP, the candidate must receive a state Nomination and for Canadian Experience Class they need to meet the selection criteria.
The processing time will be reduced to just six months for those who qualify against the requirements of one of above-named four streams and have registered themselves under Express Entry system and receive the invitation to apply. Only those who qualify will get an invitation to apply for (ITA) from the government authorities.
