Punjab minister resolves CETP issues after holding meeting with LETS delegation

Ludhiana, September 30, 2014: A delegation of Ludhiana Effluent Treatment Society (LETS) comprising of Avtar Singh, CEO, LETS & President, CICU, Jatinder Mittal, Vice President, CICU, Anil Gupta, Patron, CICU and Rajnish Bansal, Legal Constants, CICU called on Madan Mohan Mittal, Minister of Industry & Commerce, Punjab for resolving the issues related to CETP of Electroplating Industry, Ludhiana.
Mittal, after patient hearing granted relief for Electroplating Industry as under:
? Avtar Singh apprised that there is an urgent need for LETS Administrative Office Building and other Infrastructure so as to provide services to its Members and maintain liaison with different State Government Departments. Mittal granted approval for allotment of 500 sq.yds. plot in Focal Point, Ludhiana for LETS Office.
? To meet out the impelling requirements of Electroplating Industry, the Minister, accorded approval for enhancing the capacity of CETP from 3 lakh Litres to 5 lakh Litres per day.
? Small Scale Units comprising of Zink & Electroplating are operating at different locations in Ludhiana City, there is a great need for setting up Electroplating Cluster by shifting these Units. For this purpose, sufficient land from Phase-VIII, Focal Point to Kohara – Sahnewal Road lying between Chandigarh Road and G T Road, Ludhiana is readily available for setting up Electroplating Cluster. In this context – the Minister advised the Managing Director, PSIEC, to find out the possibilities and report to him on priority basis.
? The existing CETP even with its enhanced capacity will not in a position to cater to the increasing day-by-day requirements for treatment of effluents. Therefore, it is necessary to establish another CETP for controlling pollution which is of paramount importance for Ludhiana Industry. Mittal advised Raminder Singh, Director of Industry & Commerce, Punjab to explore its viabilities and report to him expeditiously.
He assured the delegation that He is always available for resolving industry & trade related issues, sympathetically.
