Punjab Medical Council notice to Fortis and Max

Ludhiana, October 28, 2014: The Punjab Medical Council (PMC) has issued notice to the Fortis Hospital Mohali and to Max Health Care Super Specialty Hospital Mohali for giving advertisement in the newspapers with the purpose of enticing the patients.
Dr G S Grewal, President, PMC said that this act is violation of The Indian Medical Council (professional conduct, etiquette & ethics) Regulations, 2002. As per the clause no.6.1 of the ethics advertising to solicit patients directly or indirectly, by a physician, by a group of physicians or by institutions or organisations is unethical. Nobody is above the law, he clarified. The PMC will do its best possible to ensure that ethics are observed equally by the institutions or the organisations. This will help in strengthening the doctor patient relationship and making the treatment affordable.
