Punjab to launch drive to check smoke emission of vehicles

Chandigarh, June 24, 2014: The Punjab government would launch a sustained drive to check the smoke emission of the vehicles to keep a check on air pollution.
According to an official spokesman, with Vehicular population increasing day by day, smoke emission from Automobiles were causing pollution and also becoming hazardous to health.
He said that transport department has set up 421 pollution checking centres in the State of Punjab to check the emission of vehicles and to issue pollution under control certificates to motor vehicles of all types, so as to keep the environment free of pollutants released by diesel and petrol operated vehicles
