PUNJAB KALA PARISHAD THANKS NAVJOT SINGH SIDHU FOR ANNOUNCING GRANT OF RS. 1 CRORE

CHANDIGARH, SEPTEMBER 26, 2017: The Punjab Kala Parishad in its general council and executive body meeting thanked the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Mr.Navjot Singh Sidhu for announcing a grant of Rs. 1 crore for the parishad. The thanksgiving resolution was unanimously adopted and passed by all the office bearers and the members in the meeting held at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector-16 under the Chairmanship of Dr.Surjit Patar.
In a statement after the meeting, Dr.Patar said that the kala parishad would have a direct connection with the villages and activities would be commenced in each village. He also said that these activities have already begun with the first function commemorating the birth anniversary of great poet Dhani Ram Chatrik held at his native lopoke village. Afterwards, the literary personalities visited Preetnagar known as the mecca of the litterateurs. Giving more information, Dr. Patar said that the commemorative functions would be held at the ancestral villages of the litterateurs and freedom fighters.
Dr. Patar further elaborated that the 12 wings related to various cultural sectors are being formed under the banner of kala parishad and these would be announced soon. He also said that every personality having connection with the Punjabi literature, culture and music would be associated with the parishad. The proceedings were conducted by the Secretary General Dr. Lakhwinder Johal. On the occasion, Vice Chairman Neelam Man Singh Chaudhary, President of Lalit Kala Academy Mr. Diwan Manna, President of Sangeet Natak Academi Mr. Kewal Dhaliwal, Secretary Preetam Rupal and Vice President Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Johal from Punjabi Sahit Academy, Executive member Mr. Harvinder Singh Khalsa, Gurmeet Jaura, Sadhna Sangar and Kiranpreet Dhami were also present.
