Punjab Istri Sabha & All India Working Women Forum (AITUC) jointly hold meeting

Ludhiana, July 18, 2016: Punjab Istri Sabha and All India Working Women Forum (AITUC), Ludhiana jointly held a meeting in which many social issues were discussed. One main issue was about to get the working Women Hostel vacated which is situated in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Ludhiana. At present the working women hostel is occupied by the police. The administration has not taken any initiative in spite of many reminders given by our organisations. It is worth noting that the number of working women in different sectors has increased manifold. They have to live in different places as Paying Guests and have to suffer many problems. Several young girls, who attended the today meeting raised different issues and challenges faces by them and also said that they will struggle to solve all the challenges.
The meeting also expressed deeply concern about the deteriorating law and order situation particularly rise in the crimes against women. Dr. Gurcharan Kaur Kochar (President), Jit Kumari (General Secretary), Barjinder Kaur (Organising Secretary), Adv. Avtar Kaur, Kulwant Kaur jointly said that they would launch awareness campaign about the Rights and Legal Acts for women.
The meeting was attended among others by Shakuntla Devi, Pramita, Veena, Sonia Devi, Venuka, Monika, Reena, Neelam, Renu, Sonia, Kuljit Kaur, Preeti.
