PUNJAB HEALTH DEPARTMENT ROPES IN SERVICE PROVIDER FOR MAINTENANCE OF ALL EQUIPMENT IN GOVT. HOSPITALS

Chandigarh, October 17, 2016: Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab has hired a service provider for maintenance of all the equipment in all the Govt Hospitals across Punjab state. These equipment include X-ray, ECG’s, Ultrasound and other state of the art machinery provided by Govt in all of its hospitals including the District Hospitals, Sub-divisional Hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHC’s) and Primary Health Centers (PHC’s).
While disclosing this, Principal Secretary, Health, Ms. Vini Mahajan said that the Service Provider Company (M/s Kirloskar Technologies Pvt Ltd with consortium partner Biostar Healthcare Pvt Ltd) has already started its services with regard to maintenance and repair of equipment in Govt hospitals from 1st October 2016 after accomplishing the exercise of mapping and coding of all the equipment in each of the Govt health institution in the state. She said that Punjab Health Systems Corporation, which is the nodal agency for procuring and providing equipment in hospitals have entered an agreement with the said company to ensure optimum utilization of the costly equipment provided in the Govt hospitals and to cut out the possibility of equipment lying non functional for longer periods due to some or the other snag. She informed that all Civil Surgeons have been directed to personally supervise the compliance of prompt action by the service provider in case of breakdown or malfunction of any equipment. They have further been directed to convey the SMO’s and the heads of various health institutions under their jurisdiction to immediately respond in case of breakdown of any equipment in their respective hospitals and register a complaint with the helpline of the service provider at 18001230104. All Biomedical equipment would also be covered under this initiative. Ms Vini Mahajan said that the performance of the service provider will be monitored regularly by the department.
