Punjab Govt To Grant Permanent recognition To 9487 Private Schools

Chandigarh, November 20, 2015: The Punjab Government has decided to grant permanent recognition to all the private schools of the state to relieve them from the cumbersome process of applying forrecognition every year. The decision to this effect was taken by the Education Minister, Punjab, Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema in a meeting with the officials of the department. With this exemplary decision of the education department, permanent recognition has been granted to 9487 schools. 
Disclosing this here today, Dr. Cheema said that earlier, all the private schools of the state were granted recognition on yearly basis and they had to apply every year to getrecognition under Right to Education (R.T.E.) Act. He informed that the schools have been granted permanent recognition in view of following the guidelines of R.T.E. Act in letter and spirit. 
Dr. Cheema also appealed to the managements all the private schools not to misuse the big relief granted by the Education Department and always follow the guidelines of R.T.E. Act. He made it clear that if any of the schools’ is found violating the guidelines, then it would be strictly proceeded against. He also instructed the departmental officials to keep regular checks on the schools to make sure that the R.T.E. Act guidelines are being adhered to.
In the meeting, Director General School Education Mr. Pardeep Agarwal, D.P.I. (Secondary Education) Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol, D.P.I. (Elementry Education) Mr. Harbans Singh Sandhu and Additional State Project Director Dr. Gurjeet Singh were present.
