ASSURES FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF CAPT AMARINDER’S PROMISE TO UPLIFT THE UNDERPRIVILEGED
Chandigarh, November 29, 2017: The state government would further enhance the amount under the Ashirwad (earlier known as Shagun) scheme to Rs.51000, as promised by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Vidhan Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

Punjab Welfare Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, replying to a question by MLA Baldev Singh, assured the House that the Ashirward scheme amount, already raised by the government from, Rs. 15000 to Rs 21000, would be further raised in line with the Chief Minister’s commitment, as soon as the state’s financial situation improves.

Reiterating the Chief Minister’s commitment to uplift the underprivileged sections of the society, the minister said the government would make no compromises in its welfare schemes and all promises made to the people would be fulfilled.

The minister disclosed that of the total Rs. 643.65 lac disbursed from March 2016 to October 2017, Rs. 455.88 lac had been given to Gurdaspur and Rs. 187.77 lac to the Pathankot district. The MLA had sought district wise details about disbursement under the scheme during this period.
