PUNJAB Government creates corpus fund for gallantry awardees and war widows

Chandigarh, July 10, 2013: Akali-BJP government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal is committed to the welfare of the gallantry awardees and their wards, disabled soldiers and defence personnel belonging to state. Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Punjab Government said that a corpus fund of Rs.0.50 crore has been created to provide financial assistance to Gallantry Awardees, War widows and scholarship to their children.

The Spokesman said that government has also provided financial assistance to the parents of the martyrs. An additional relief of Rs.2 lac was provided to the dependent parents of the married martyrs who were killed in any notified operation on or after 1.1.1999. A sum of Rs.0.30 crore was provided for the annual plan 2013-14, added the spokesman.   

The Spokesman further said that a sum of Rs.5.00 lac in cash was provided in lieu of plot/house to each the NOK/dependent of Martyrs/75 percent to 100  percent disabled soldiers in any notified operation or after 1.1.1999 onward . An amount of Rs.2 crore was provided for the year 2013-14, added the spokesman.
