Punjab government to conduct MBBS/BDS entrance test on May 10: Joshi

Chandigarh, February 6, 2015:  The Punjab government would conduct entrance test for admission in MBBS and BDS courses on May 10, 2015. Disclosing this here today Anil Joshi, Medical Education and Research Minister said that instructions in this regard have been issued to the officers to complete the necessary arrangements in time.
The minister said that these instructions have been issued in a high level meeting in which in which Secretary Husan Lal, DRME Dr.Gurdeep Singh Kalian, Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Dr, Raj Bahadur and Principals of Medical and Dental Colleges were present.
Joshi directed the secretary of department to allow the Baba Farid University, Medical and Dental Colleges to use their user chargers to upgrade their financial position. He informed that the department has raised their demand before the Medical Council of India (MCI) to increase the MBBS seats of Medical Colleges of Amritsar and Patiala and MCI would soon take a call on it.
The minister expressed hope that the state government would get Rs.42 crore under Prime Minister Health Security Scheme and the state government would give Rs. 18 crore as matching grant. These funds would be used for the up gradation of infrastructure in Colleges and better health services.
