PUNJAB CM greets people on 636th Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Ravi Dass

Chandigarh, February 24, 2013: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on 636th  Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Ravidass - a great spiritual preacher and messiah of the poor and downtrodden section of the society.

In a message, Badal said that Guru Ravidass preached us the ideology of love, compassion, mutual tolerance, universal brotherhood and humanity through his philosophy and had made concerted efforts for bringing social equality thereby eradicating the evil of casteism from the society. “His significant contribution towards carving out a classless society would be ever remembered”, said the chief minister.

Badal further stated that Sri Guru Ravidass propagated the values of humanism through his teachings which are still relevant in the present materialistic world. He urged the people to follow the path shown by the great Guru and for the upliftment of the underprivileged sections of the society for bridging the gap between have and have-nots for the creation of a classless society.  

Badal also appealed the people to celebrate the 'Parkash Utsav' of Guru Ravidass in unison by rising above the petty considerations of caste, colour and creed.
