Chandigarh, January 10, 2014: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave nod to the infrastructural development projects of about Rs.2210 crore under JNNURM scheme for sending respective DPRs to the Ministry of Urban Development (GoI) for requisite approval and funding.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's office said that a decision to this effect was taken by Badal during a State Level Steering Committee's meeting under JNNURM held at the Chief Minister's residence this morning.
The spokesperson further informed that the steering committee has approved Rs. 998.91 crore development projects under sewerage component for small and medium towns including Abohar (Rs.66.2 crore), Majitha (Rs.17.72 crore), Sangrur (73.64 crore), Sirhind (Rs.53.51 crore), Nabha (Rs.62.83 crore), Bassi Pathana (Rs.26.53 crore), Sanaur (Rs.21.63 crore), Barnala (Rs.103.89 crore), Faridkot (Rs.75.37 crore), Jaitu (Rs.33.94 crore), Kotakpura (Rs.90.50 crore), Guru Harsahai (Rs.30.99 crore) and a Canal Based water Supply System for Patiala city at a cost of Rs. 157.16 crore, besides project for the 13 towns of Bathinda & Mansa districts at a cost of Rs.185 crore.  
Under the roads component, the committee gave approval to the projects of Rs.470.52 crore for Jalandhar, which included RUB at Brij Nagar near Chandan Nagar (Rs.26.87 crore), construction-widening & upgradation of various roads in Jalandhar (Rs. 102.77 crore), Development of streets and drains in different Abadies (Rs.49.01 crore), Flyover at Basti Bawa Khel, Kapurthala road (Rs.50 crore) and Sports HUB at Burlton Park (Rs.241.87 crore).  Besides road component of Rs. 234.10 crore for Amritsar was also approved, which included RoB at Bhagtanwala Raily Crossing (Rs.68.65 crore), RoB Jhabal road railway crossingh (Rs.63.45 crore) and construction of RoB at railway crossing A12 on NH 15 at Tarn Taran road, Kot Mit Singh (Rs.102 crore), besides a project of Rs. 83.70 crore for the procurement of 93 buses for BRTS system in Amritsar was also approved by the committee.
Likewise, Rs. 398.68 crore development projects for Ludhiana-Ferozepur road (Rs.209.37 crore), Ludhiana-Chandigarh road (Rs.109.31 crore) and old G.T. Road (Rs.80 crore) in Ludhiana district had also been approved The committee has also approved Rs.20 crore multi level car parking in MC Bathinda.  
The Chief Minister while reviewing the ongoing projects under JUNNRM directed the department to complete all the pending works in an expeditious, effective and time bound manner.  He further directed to prepare the DPRs for the left out towns in Doaba for ensuring the comprehensive infrastructure development in those towns under JUNNARM.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Principal Secretary to CM SK Sandhu, Technical Advisor to CM VK Bhatt, Secretary Local Government Ashok Kumar Gupta, CEO PMIDC JN Balamurgan, CA GAMADA AK Sinha, GM PMIDC Radesh Kalra, Mayor Ludhiana Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, Mayor Jalandhar Sunil Jyoti, MC Commissioners DPS Kharbanda (Amritsar), Manpreet Singh Chattwal (Jalandhar) and Rahul Tiwari (Ludhiana) besides other senior officers of the state government.
