More than 6000 voter took photographs collectively with their voter cards
Ludhiana, January 30, 2017: District Ludhiana added one more feather to its cap when more than 6000 voters took their photos collectively with voter cards in their hands and gave the voters the message to use their vote ethically in the upcoming Punjab State Assembly Elections. This effort has found its place in the Índian Book of Records’.
On this occasion, Sh. V.K.Singh, chief Election Officer, Punjab congratulated the people of Ludhiana at Indor Stadium on the Pakhowal Road and made an appeal to the voters to use their votes ethically in the upcoming Punjab State Assembly Elections 2017. Sh. Singh assured the voters to have a transparent, fair and smooth election. Every voter can use his/her vote and elect the government of his/her own choice. He said that all the arrangements related to the election scheduled on 4 February have been made. Any voter can contact on telephone number 1950 in case of any complaint. More than 85 percent voting is also aimed in this election.
District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Sh. Ravi Bhagat expressed his happiness on the effort. He told that the aim was to have 2500 voters (mostly the first timers) to set up this record but more than 6000 voters participated in it with their voter cards. This effort gave a lot of inspiration to the district administration and to the members of the Initiators of Change group. He also congratulated the founder of the group Sh. Gauravdeep Singh and his team members.
On this occasion, physically handicapped artists presented cultural programme and Gatka Team presented Gatka. Dance artists of the city also presented their programme. To motivate and inspire the participants, Chief Election Officer, Punjab Sh. V.K.Singh, all the Election Observers, Sh. Jatinder Singh Aulakh Police Commissioner Ludhiana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (w) Ms. Apneet Riyat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Sh. Mohinder Pal Gupta, All the Returning Officers, other officials and youth voters were also present. Two minutes silence was also observed to pay homage to the freedom fighters at the start of the programme.
