Punjab among frontrunners in country in Immunisation: Hussan Lal, MD-NHM

Chandigarh, 9 January, 2014: A two day training of District Immunization Officers and review of immunisation programme in the State of Punjab started today at Chandigarh. The training was inaugurated by Hussan Lal, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, Hussan Lal appreciated the immunisation programme in the State and pointed out that the state was among the frontrunners in the country. He exhorted the District Immunization Officers to work harder to increase the immunisation coverage further and reach each and every newborn in the state and ensure 100% full immunisation of all newborns. He also asked them to intensify supportive supervision in the field in order to minimise the problems being faced by the field staff.

Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Director, Family Welfare, Punjab, asked the DIOs to intensify the monitoring of programme and improve data quality. During two days the DIOs would be oriented towards developments in immunisation programme with special emphasis on Polio Eradication in view of the forthcoming National immunisation Day on 19th January, 2014. According to Dr. GB Singh State Immunisation Officer, the important agenda for the training include planning for the Pulse polio round, preparation of annual plan for the next financial year, maintenance of cold chain, AFP Surveillance and data management for better monitoring of the immunisation activities.
