Punjab to amend Punjab Welfare Officers rules

Chandigarh, June 24, 2014: The Punjab Labour Department seeks to amend the Punjab Welfare Officers (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1952; a notification in this regard has been issued. The Government invites suggestions/objections from the public for the Draft Rules amendment now to be referred to as Punjab Welfare Officers (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) (First Amendment) Rules, 2014. These would be received by the Chief Inspector of Factories, Punjab, S.C.O. No. 87-88, Sector 17-D, Chandigarh from any person before the expiry of a period of forty five days from the notice publication date 4th June, 2014.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesman said that under this amendment rule 3-A would be substituted. This amendment has been proposed by the state government in pursuance with the sub-section (2) of section 49 read with section 112 of the Factories Act (1948) and is published as required by section 115 of the said Act. He said that Chief Welfare Officers will be entitled to a Pay Band of 15600-39100+Grade Pay-5400 and an Initial Pay of Rs.21000. While the Welfare Officer is entitled to a Pay Band of 10300-34800+Grade Pay of 5000 and an Initial Pay of Rs.18450.

Nothing in the said rules shall be deemed to prevent the grant of pay scales higher than those specified or affect the emoluments of the Chief Welfare Officers and Welfare Officers who are enjoying scales of pay higher than those specified above. These pay scales are also exclusive of dearness and other allowances payable at such rates from time to time, will be admissible to the Punjab Government Employees enjoying the same pay.
