Chandigarh, November 6, 2013: Punjab Government is all set to launch Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana for providing cashless health insurance cover up to Rs 30000 to the Blue Card holder families enrolled under the Atta-Dal Scheme in the state.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal would launch the scheme at a state level function at Fazilka on November 11.

Disclosing this here today, Surjit Kumar Jayani, Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab said that this scheme would be launched in all 22 districts in the state and registration of beneficiary families would start on 11th November, 2013.

Elaborating the scheme Jayani said that up to 5 members of the family could be enrolled under the Scheme.  Family would comprise of the Head of the family, spouse, and up to three dependents. “If the spouse of the head of the family is listed in the beneficiary database, the spouse should be part of the beneficiary family unit” said Jayani.

 He further said that enrolment centres for registration of beneficiaries would operate at village and ward level and Finger prints and photographs of all five members would be required for enrollment and Smart Card will be issued on the spot at enrolment station.

Earlier presiding over a workshop to aware the district level officials about the implementation and provisions of the scheme Husan Lal MD Punjab Health Systems Corporations said that the medical coverage of Rs 30,000 could be availed either by any single member of the family or collectively by all member of the family. The beneficiaries could avail the cashless benefits could by producing the card to the empanelled hospitals.

Talking about the benefits of the scheme Husan Lal said that the package rate have been fixed for most of the illnesses including some day care procedures as well,  pre-existing conditions/diseases are to be covered from the first day of the start of policy. “Coverage of health services for the defined day care treatments/ procedures, transport allowance of 100 per hospitalisation subject to an annual ceiling of 1000 at the time of discharge in cash and Pre, post hospitalization costs up to one day and up to 5 days respectively”, he added.
