Punjab all set to fill 665 posts of instructors in ITIs

Chandigarh, September 24, 2012: The Punjab Government is all set to fill 665 vacant posts of Instructors in ITIs across the state besides providing them requisite infrastructure to enable them to develop skills of 1 lakh youth increasing their chances of employability.

Disclosing this here today Anil Joshi, Technical Education and Industrial Training minister, Punjab said that presently there were 111 government and 294 private ITIs in the state providing training and performing the job of skill development of over 64,000 youth every year.

He said that he has issued instructions to complete recruitment process in most transparent manner. The minister further said that besides filling the vacant posts Punjab Government has also chalked out a plan to install the machinery with latest technologies, so that the professional skills could be developed in the student as required by the industry.

He said that technical institutes have been told to weed out obsolete trades and focus on only those trades that were required by the industry and could assure placement to youth getting training there.    

Joshi said that the state government was committed for the expansion and promotion of technical education in Punjab besides encouraging the students towards the professional studies. He said that the state government had already taken path breaking initiatives in the field of technical education for which they have established four multi skill centers in the state.
