Pune Artist shines at Pan India ‘First Take 2019’ art competition and exhibition
Pune artist Charudatt Pande has emerged as one of the winners at the 4th edition of pan India First Take 2019, an exhibition and competition of painting, prints ceramic and sculpture. Presented by Claris and helmed by Abir Charitable Trust, the annual art competition and exhibition showcased artwork of meritorious contemporary artists. The winners were felicitated by Mr.Arjun Handa, Vice Chairman & MD, Claris; Mr Sandeep Engineer, MD, Astral Polytechnic Ltd; and Ms.Ruby Jagrut, Founder, ABIR, at Ahmedabad. Around 2,350 art works were received from all corners of India, out of which 130 were selected for the exhibition. The submitted works were evaluated by a group of eminent jury comprising of Mr. Umang Hutheesing, Mr. Subodh Kerkar, Ms. Brinda Miller, Mr. Jayanti Rabadia and Mr. Veer Munshi. Charudatt’s artwork is an acrylic painting on canvas, titled “Breathing,” is about the concept of internal migration and increase in basic needs. The painting depicts the journey of finding oneself in the hustle bustle of life. Speaking about his association with First Take 2019, Mr. Arjun Handa said, “There is a lot of talent in India in the field of contemporary art. My interest in Art has given me the opportunity to see the works of a lot of budding artists. There is immense talent across the nation and what these artists need is a bit of a nudge and a platform to flourish further. The association with First Take is an initiative to provide the right kind of platform for contemporary artists in a sustainable way.” Speaking about this year’s competition, Ms. Ruby Jagrut said, “This year we have received fantastic response from many cities across India. The level of professionalism and sophistication in the art work submitted this year is also quite top notch. We hope to continue this fervour in coming years too.”
