PUCA-PUTIA urged CM to intervene in B.Sc Agri affiliation issue
Ludhiana, July 8, 2019: The leading Unaided Colleges Association of Punjab including Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) and Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) urged Chief Minister Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh to intervene in B.Sc Agriculture Approval and Affiliation fiasco. President, PUCA, Dr.Anshu Kataria and Vice President, PUTIA, S. Manjeet Singh said that questioning the degrees of 107 already running Institutions has created the confusion in the minds of over 15000 existing students and over 3000-4000 students who have recently taken admissions in these Colleges. 70% of these admissions are from other States like Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, North East etc. It is to be mentioned that the Punjab State Council for Agricultural Education has issued the notice on 5th July, 2019 warning the students about the admissions in these Colleges. Kataria further said that on one hand lakhs of the youth of Punjab are going to other countries like Canada, US etc for higher studies and edupreneurs of Punjab are going to other states for getting the admissions in B.Sc agriculture course. With this notification, admissions of students from other states will become doubtful. With the admissions from other States, Punjab earns crores of rupees in the shape of revenue as the student spends money for his education as well as the living. Kataria said that when one affiliating University may it be IKG-PTU, Jalandhar; MRS-PTU, Bathinda or Punjabi University, Patiala has given the approval to run B.Sc Agriculture course in 5-acre land then how a new body can increase the land the requirement from 5 acres to 50 acres? Kataria further questioned that do a college need to buy 45 acres more land to run a course in a land lock state like Punjab? S. Manjeet Singh said that we are affiliated with State Affiliating Universities like IKG-PTU, MRS-PTU and Punjabi University and we are following the norms of these degree-granting Universities. These new rules should be applicable to new colleges not existing.
