Due to non payment of PMS funds over 3 lac SC students & over 1000 Colleges are facing hardships
Ludhiana, January 13, 2018: Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) urged Punjab Government to complete the pending audit of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) at the earliest and release the funds for those colleges whose audit have been cleared.
Dr.Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA also demanded that 115 Crore released by the Centre Government out of 1200 Crore is a meagre amount. Hence the Centre Govt should add more amount to 115 Crore so that a good amount can be released to the Colleges facing financial crunch.
Sh.Amit Sharma, Sr.Vice President, PUCA while speaking said that around 30 Crore of the year 2016-17 and around 60 Crore of the year 2017-18 committed State Liability amounting to a total of Rs 205 Crore is due towards the Government.
S.Gurfateh Singh, Vice President, PUCA while speaking said that that due to the non payment of over 1200 crore from last 2 years over 3 lakh SC students, parents, teachers, other Stakeholders & unaided colleges of Punjab are facing financial hardships.
CA, Manmohan Garg, Finance Secretary, PUCA said that due to the non release of 1200 crore, more than 100 good colleges accounts have been declared as Non Performing Assets (NPA) and banks have started the process for proceedings for taking possession and Auction.
S. Gurkirat Singh, Joint Secretary-I while said that Govt. should not consider those admissions as the fake who leave their studies in between as a big number of students drop out their studies due to various reasons throughout the Country. “Government should evaluate and pay the amount for those semesters which the student has studied in the College” Gurfateh added.
Mr.Ashok Garg, Treasurer, PUCA said that due to non payment salaries of last 4-5 months of teaching and non teaching staff members in some unaided colleges are also pending.
In the meeting held recently of the PUCA Office bearers it was decided that a delegation would soon meet Centre & State Government for the early release of funds. S.
