PU Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Ludhiana Zone-B Commences

Ludhiana, September 22, 2015: Amid brimming fervour and sprightliness of young girls, PU Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Ldh Zone-B commenced at Ramgarhia Girls College. The zone comprises of eleven girls colleges and the four-day fest, which will conclude on 25th Sept. 2015, aims to showcase the talent of the youth through a plethora of events. The event was marked by the presence of many prominent personalities to whom the college principal, Dr (Mrs.) Narinder Sandhu extended a very cordial welcome. S. Ranjodh Singh, President, S. Jagtar Singh, General Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council and S. Pritpal Singh, President, Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib, inaugurated the festival with the lamp lighting ceremony. S. Baldev Singh, MD of Amar Tractors Pvt. Ltd, Mrs. and Mr. Rajesh Kalra, MD, Suncross Cycles and Dr Ravinder Dhaliwal, Director Student Welfare, PAU, were the guests of honour on the occasion. The event commenced with the recitation of the shabad “Deh Shiva Var Mohe” by the students of the PG Dept. of Music Vocal. S. Nirmal Jaura, Director, Youth Welfare Department, PU, averred that a neck to neck competition is always witnessed in this zone and encouraged the participants to gear up for the same. An array of competitions was organized at different venues simultaneously. The competitions that marked the first day were those of music items like Shabad/ Bhajan, Classical Vocal, Gazal/Geet, Folk Song and Group Singing (Indian); Art and Craft items namely, Phulkari/Bhag, Dasuti/ Cross Stitch, Knitting, Crochet Work, Pakhi Designing, Mehndi Designing; the literary items like, Poem Writing, Short Story Writing and Essay Writing and the newly introduced item, Heritage Quiz. In all the competitions, the participants put their best foot forward and made the task of the judges of various competitions very difficult. While addressing the assemblage, S. Pritpal Singh said that the festival provides an excellent platform to the youngsters to explore and exhibit their potentialities. Principal, Dr (Mrs.) Narinder Sandhu congratulated the prize winners. She averred that by dint of the efforts of the Dept. of Youth Welfare, PU, the cooperation of the colleges and above all, the grace of the Almighty; the festival has kick-started spiritedly and the same is hoped for the subsequent days. S. Ranjodh Singh, President of Ramgarhia Educational Council, also congratulated the winning participants and said that the college prides itself on organising ten Youth Festivals at zonal level and three at inter-zonal level and the present one is the eleventh fest being hosted by the college at zonal level. He further added that the college fraternity has made every possible effort to make the festival a success. S. Jagtar Singh, General Secretary of the Council, said that the festival is the most-awaited event for the students and with their enthusiastic participation on the first day; they have added a spark to it.
