Chandigarh, June 1, 2016: Panjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover today launched the
online admissions for the various Post Graduate (PG) Programmes in academic session 2016-17 at PU.
The interested students can now file online application at admission website http://pgadmissions.puchd.ac.in/. It is the first time that PU has started online admissions for PG Courses in Social Sciences and Languages.
The last date of submission of information on the website for Admission to courses M.A.-I is June 30, 2016. The last date for submission of fee in any branch of State Bank of India using website generated challan is July 2, 2016 by 4 PM. The last date for submission of hard copy of the application form along with the requisite
documents (mentioned on the application form print-out) to the Co-ordinator's office is July 5, 2016.
The admission to courses of Bachelor in Library and Information Science, M.A.(Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology), M.A.(Centre for Human Rights and Duties), M.A.(Centre for Police Administration), M.A.(Comparative Study of Religions), M.A.(Defence and National Security Studies), M.A.(Economics), M.A.(English), M.A.(French), M.A.(Gandhian and Peace Studies), M.A.(Geography), M.A. (Hindi), M.A.(History), M.A.(Indian Theatre), M.A.(Instrumental), M.A.(Journalism and Mass Communication), M.A.(Philosophy), M.A.(Political Science), M.A.(Psychology), M.A.(Public Administration), M.A.(Punjabi), M.A.(Sanskrit), M.A.(Social Work), M.A.(Sociology), M.A.(Vocal), M.A.(Womens Studies) and Masters in
Disaster Management and Masters in Remote Sensing and GIS would given on basis of Under Graduate(UG) marks/Interview/Entrance Test/Aptitude Test through online applications at the website.
The interested Students including those who have already applied for Entrance Test to be held in May/June 2016 are required to submit their admission/application forms for all these Courses by June 30, 2016, irrespective of the declaration of the result of qualifying exam/Entrance Test to the respective departments. The candidate would be required to pay one time form/Counseling fee of Rs.500/- for General & Rs.250/- for SC/ST and blind candidates for one or multiple choices of courses.
Speaking on the occasion, PU VC Prof Arun Kumar Grover said that it was a new beginning for the University. He said that the students are techno savvy and they would be happy with this initiative. It would help the University in getting better talents from various parts of the country, he added. This year, the students would
have to pay fees through the Bank but from next year it would be through credit or debit card, he added.
Prof Grover said that admissions and selections in PU are on basis of merit and the University welcomes all the meritorious students to study. If any student faces any problem in filling up the form, the student may reach the University and the University would be happy to provide assistance in that regard, he added. He announced that the University would setup Help Centre and assistance booths to provide assistance to the students in the online and offline admission process. The Help Centre would be set up at the university, where the prospective students would be provided 50 computers for filing online applications. He expressed hope that the selections for various jobs from prospective advertisements would be applied online and filled up through the use of technology. He asked the Computer Centre to come up with appropriate proposal in this regard.
