Chandigarh, July 31, 2016: Panjab University (PU) Syndicate today decided to defer the proposal for revision in fee structures of the PU and affiliated college students in session 2017-18.
PU Syndicate approved the proposal for framing Examiners Manual. A committee would be constituted that would suggest modalities on the recommendations pertaining to the mandate of the enquiry committee. The committee was formed with regard to the leakage of paper of law entrance test examination 2014.
PU Syndicate approved the number and names of polling booths for conducting senate election 2016. As many as 269 booths were approved. The PU Syndicate decided the voting for senate elections would be conducted from 8 AM to 1 PM and 1.30 PM to 5 PM. The voting for graduate constituency is to be held on September 25.
The PU Syndicate approved the offer of Maharana Ranjit Singh Chair Professorship to Lt. General KJ Singh, PVSM, AVSM. The chair is to be setup at the Department of Defence and National Security Studies.
The PU Syndicate approved the facilities for the Chair Professors of eight chairs at the University. The PU Syndicate also ratified the change of nomenclature of PU Computer Centre to APJ Abdul Kalam Computer Centre.
PU Syndicate principally approved to increase the quota of seats for colleges. The colleges can send their requisitions before August 5 to PU Dean College Development Council.
Earlier, addressing the PU Syndicate, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover informed that PU would frame comprehensive Conservation Management Plan for the PU Campus and its buildings. The plan would include induction/orientation programme for the employees about the heritage; sustainability plan for the buildings and facilities; archiving of records; erasing of earlier interventions, which could be detrimental for the life of the building; incorporation of relevant clauses for contract agreements to ensure conservation of original character of the buildings; and building community consensus. He proposed that a Conservation Management Committee be constituted for the Panjab University Campus to review the status periodically, which was accepted by the Syndicate.
