PU receives grant for setting up CALEM

Chandigarh, October 10, 2018: Panjab University has received grant of Rs 2.40 crores from MHRD for setting up of Centre for Academic Leadership and Educational Management (CALEM) to be established before March 2020 along with Rs 93 lakhs for recurring expenditure against total sanctioned amount of Rs 6.63 crores.

The Department of Education, Panjab University had submitted the proposal under the Pt Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission for Teachers and Training (PMMMNMTT) of MHRD.

Prof Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor was apprised about the objectives, programmes, building infrastructure and time lines of the project approved in the XIth PAB meeting of MHRD in July 2018 by the chairperson of the Department of Education Prof Latika Sharma. The Vice Chancellor has shown keen interest in multidisciplinary programs of the Center and has promised administrative support in creating the infrastructure.

This is one of the five centres in the country given by Government of India. Catering majorly to clientele in the northern region, Panjab University shall conduct programs for preparing stakeholders in education for Academic leadership and Educational management. This will provide opportunity to the University to invite experts in the field from around the country and conduct training programs and workshops for teachers, principals, vice chancellors, administrators and researchers.
