Chandigarh, December 17, 2018: Prof.Jaspal kaur Kaang, presently Academic Incharge of Deptt. Guru Nanak Sikh Studies and Co-ordinator of Department Punjabi, University School of Open Learning Panjab University is honored by the Award of Punjab Rattan at 38th All India Conference of Intellectuals held at India International Center Delhi on 16th December 2018. The Award is presented to her for her outstanding contribution as an educationist in the field of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies.
Professor Kaang expressed her happiness for achieving Punjab Rattan Award and said there, “Award is not only of mine the award but of my Panjab University which has given me ample opportunities to work at various platforms”. Prof. Kaang has served the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies as Chairperson for a long time and now she has been contributing in its academic and research pursuits as an Academic Incharge of the department.
Recently she organized a two day International Seminar dedicated to the 550th Birth Purav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Dr. Kaang has written sixteen books and more than hundred research papers. She has remained Chairperson of two departments- University School of Open Learning and Guru Nanak Sikh Studies. She was also Dean of Languages and Faculty of Design and Fine Arts. She has remained President Panjab University Teacher Association, Member of Panjab University Senate and also member of Punjabi Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, Govt. of India.
Dr. Kaang was also presented award of Vidya Shri in 2016 and Award of National Education of Best Professor of Literature by Dewang Mehta in 2017.
She also mentioned that the conference was attended by a large number of imminent, diplomats, dignitaries, bureaucrats, journalists and invitees from all over the India.
