PU Professor Delivers Talks in China to Scientists from Pharma Industry

Chandigarh, January 16, 2019 Dr Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, Professor, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), and Coordinator, UGC Centre for Excellence in Nano Biomedical Applications, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, delivered a series of three talks during two-day Asia- Pacific Pharmaceutical Science Summit Forum (APPSF) held on 9th-10th January 2019 at Shanghai, China. The entire expenditure incurred on his international and domestic air travel, conference registration and logistic arrangements for four days were borne complimentarily by the conference organizers, Shengjie Business Management & Consulting Co. Ltd., Shanghai. During his highly appreciated talks, Professor Bhoop accentuated on the immense utility to adapt to the modern, systematic and rational paradigms of Quality by Design (QbD), not only to unravel the scientific minutiae underlying the development of generic drug products and pharmaceutical processes, but also for their smooth regulatory compliance across the pharma world. Also, during the Indo-China conclave of the representatives from pharmaceutical industry from each of the countries, the special viewpoints expressed by Dr Bhoop were highly lauded. In this context, it is quite pertinent to share that China is the second biggest producer of pharmaceuticals across the world, while India ranks at fourth place in generics. Acclaimed globally for his scientific work, esp. in the domain of novel nanomedicines using QbD, Professor Bhoop has earned to his credit over 360 original publications, 15 books, five patents and tech-transfers of two nanostructured drug delivery technologies to pharma industry. A widely travelled scientist, he has already delivered nearly 300 invited talks in India and overseas, including USA, Canada, UK, Germany, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Dubai and Bangladesh. He holds the unique distinction of having duly trained several hundreds of industrial scientists under his direct guidance, esp. on QbD. He has handled 16 research projects fetching research grants of 6.10 crores from Government and corporate sectors, and guided/guiding nearly 100 research scholars including 31 doctoral, and 6 post-doctoral researchers.
