PU not received any communication from concerned department regarding cancellation of registration under FCRA

Chandigarh, June 11, 2015: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has not received any communication from the concerned department regarding cancellation of registration under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).

Panjab University has been registered under FCRA to receive voluntary foreign contribution with respect to Education/Research Programmes.  During the last 5 financial years i.e. 2009-10 to 2013-14, the University received foreign contribution in only 2(two) financial years i.e. in 2009-10 and 2010-11 for an amount of Rs.4.30 lacs and Rs.2.00 lacs respectively to carry out certain collaborative research projects. 

No Foreign Contribution was received during the Financial Year 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14.  During these Financial Years, the University did not furnish any information to the concerned department.  In reference to that a notice was received in the University in October 2014.  In response to that all the desired information was submitted on 11th November, 2014. 

Though University has not received any official communication regarding cancellation of Registration, but, if need be necessary steps would be taken to get the Registration revived, said a university release here on Wednesday. / (SK Vyas, jalandhar)
