Chandigarh June 4, 2015: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has 10 percent additional seats in all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses for Foreign Nationals and NRI candidates and the office of Dean International Students is the single window for all admissions for them.

For admissions to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the international students can apply to PU till June 29 but the international Ph.D candidates can apply throughout the year.

This information was given Dean International Students (DIS), Prof Ramanjit Kaur Johal while taking to media persons here today.

Informing about the admission procedure and rules about the admissions to PU, Prof Johal informed that the rules have been simplified for the benefit of International students and they can simply download the form from the International Students link on the PU website and email their applications with scanned supporting documents to [email protected]. The admission is on the basis of merit subject to eligibility. The office of DIS may be contacted through email or telephone, the contact details are available on the PU website, she added. 

Prof Johal informed that there are provisions of exemptions from entrance tests for the international students. She said that the fee structure for the international students is also quite nominal as compared to other institutions. For Ph.D there is differential fee structure for students from developed and developing countries, she added.

Prof Johal informed that the number of international students has been increasing steadily over the past four five years. Last year there were 146 international students in PU Campus and 273 were in colleges. So far with a month to go for close of applications, PU has already received more than 200 applications from international students, she added.

In addition to non-funded individual applications, PU has already received as many as 125 applications from Government of India’s scholarship awardees through the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR). 41 applications have been received from the Ethiopian Embassy and few from the American Third World Academic Foundation. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
