PU decided to execute third party guarantee to Nationalised Banks for personal loans of UGC

Chandigarh, November 22, 2014: Taking a major decision for the benefit of Research Scholars, Panjab University Chandigarh. Syndicate today decided to execute the third party guarantee to theNationalised banks for the Personal Loans of University Grants Commission (UGC) Research

Scholars at the University.

The decision was taken at the PU Syndicate meeting, which was presided over by the PU Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof Arun Kumar Grover. The University would stand guarantee for an amount equivalent to 80 percent of the fellowship amount due to the Research Scholar and the Research Scholar can secure loan from any bank. PU Syndicate also approved the selections for Mathematics and Laws.

PU Syndicate also the country from March 1, 1954 till his retirement on November 10, 1967. He had participated in landmark discoveries like experimental observation of Top quark-gluon Plasma and Higgs boson. Prof B.M. Anand himself had worked with Nobel Laureate Prof C.F. Powell.

In a major decision likely to further boost international collaborations, PU Syndicate approved the proposal for the appointment of international co-supervisors for the Ph.D.candidates of the University, provided the co-supervisors should be from International Research Centre/Universities (DST approved Institution).

The Syndicate approved the new guidelines for admission under the reserved category of Sports for MBA programmers, M.Com Honours and in other teaching departments of PU Campus/PU Regional Centres for the session 2015-16. The Directorate of Sports, PU shall take an undertaking from the students that they would attend the grounds regularly and

must have 75 percent attendance in the sports ground. They would also participate in the Inter College, Inter University, National and International Sports tournament.

The concerned Chairperson will have to certified that the condition of 75 percent attendance in the ground has been met before issuing the Role Number to the students of Sports Category on the basis of the attendance sent by the Directorate of Sports.

PU Syndicate approved the extension of validity date of the advertisement for various teaching posts. It also approved regulations/rules for PG Diploma in Cyber Crime for the session 2014-15. The Syndicate also approved the change in nomenclature of Diploma Course in Yoga & Mental Health and Diploma Course in Fine Arts Career Oriented Course as

Advance Diploma in Yoga & Mental Health and Advance Diploma in Fine Arts.

The University Syndicate considered reports of examiners on the thesis of proposed Ph.D students and approved the award of degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) to them.
