To commemorate the PTU's 18th Foundation Day, three-day long celebrations begin on Tuesday.

Jalandhar, January 14, 2014: Punjab Technical University (PTU) has its 18th Foundation Day on January 16. To commemorate the same it has organised three-day long celebrations starting from today. The celebrations began on an auspicious note with Arambh Sri Akhand Path Sahib at its Kapurthala campus. This was followed by a play on the life of Swami Vivekanand at the auditorium of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET), Kabir Nagar, Jalandhar in the evening.
According to Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor, PTU, “The University stands by all the value that Swami Ji propagated. In the recent past, we have organised several activities to commemorate his 150th birth anniversary and this play too is a part of the same initiative. I sincerely believe that there could not have been a better way to begin our 18th Foundation Day celebrations other than learning from the life of the great saint. The incidents of his life handpicked for the play were the ones that are more relevant to the contemporary times that we live in.”
The play was performed by talented artists of Vatsalya Group and produced by Radhika Creations, Nagpur. With a cast of efficient actors, the play highlighted some of the important incidents in Swami Vivekanand’s life like his meeting with Ramakrishna Paramhans, how he left the material pleasures of the world to take up the simple life of a
sanyasi, his trips abroad and his iconic address at the World Parliament of Religions at Chicago in 1893.
The play has been written and directed by two talented women. Sarika Pendse, the director, takes pride in the fact that her crew has performed the same play more than 100 times at different locations while Shubhangi, the writer, says that she studied every possible literature available on his life and consulted Vivekanand Mission in detail before attempting the script. Through this play, the Radhika Group aims to propagate the message of patriotism and wishes to draw the attention of the youth to the Indian philosophy and way of life, of which Swami Ji was the ambassador
