Ferozepur, December 15, 2012: The Punjab Pharmacist Association, has announced to intensify its agitation against the indifferent attitude of Dr. Ashok Nayyar, Director, Health, Punjab, against pharmacist cadre and pharmacy profession.
Announcing to intensify the agitation, state convener, Ravinder Luthra, Jaswinder Singh Patti and Swarjjit Singh, co-conveners of the Association said, “In the first phase, the association members would register their protest by putting black badges on the shoulders on December 17 and 18, in whole of the Punjab and on December 19, memorandum would be submitted to the civil surgeons at the district level, after staging protest for their demand”.
Ravinder Luthra, state convener said, “In the second phase, the effigy of Dr. Ashok Nayyar would be burnt on January 3 next at all the district headquarters and in case the issue is not resolved through dialogue with the association, the association would protest infront of the office of Director Health Services (DHS) at Chandigarh on January 10 next”.
On this occasion, Ravinder Luthra said, “On the one hand, the pharmacist have been put in the diminishing cadre and pharmacist are retiring and no recruitment is being done in place of them whereas on the other hand, the pharmacist are being put on deputation duty in jails, de-addiction centres and VIP duties by the Director Health Services. In civil hospitals and district headquarters, the staff other than the pharmacist is deputed on storage and distribution of medicines received under different schemes, which is in violation of Pharmacy Act and pharmacist class, will not tolerate for getting the work from non-pharmacist class. There is a great resentment amongst the pharmacist class against Dr. Nayyar.
Giving warning, the leaders said that in case the problems of the pharmacists are not solved immediately through dialogue, the association would intensify the agitation besides exposing the various irregularities on the part of Dr. Nayyar.
