PROTEST: MC employee’s not paid three months wages

Ferozepur, October 26, 2012: The employees of Municipal Council today protested and shouted slogans against the Punjab Government infront of the office, as they have not been paid their salaries for the last three months.
Addressing the protestors, Randhir Gupta, president, Municipal Council Clerical Staff Employees Union, Ramesh Kumar of Fire Brigade Employees Association, Gurmit Singh of Pump Operators Union and Karam Singh of Class IV Employees Union said that in case the wages of the employees are not released immediately, they will be compelled to intensify their agitation.  

They further said that despite assurance to release the salary but the same has not been released for the last three months and the employees are feeling great difficulty to pay school-college fees of their children and electricity bills besides managing the other day today household affairs.
Ashwani Grover, president Municipal Council, Ferozepur said, with the abolition of number of taxes including octroi tax, the income of the Council has reduced while the expenditure is on the higher side.  However, the Punjab Government has been approached for financial help in advance.  Tthe monthly expenditure of the Municipal Council is about Rs.75 whereas the income has gone down to Rs.25-30 lakhs.
