Ludhiana, November 16, 2012: Workers of the united forum of BSNL Unions comprising of BSNL Employees Union, SC/ST Employees Welfare Association of BSNL and National Federation of Telecom BSNL Employees went on total strike today.

The call for one day strike was given by the Central Headquarters of the unions/ united forum.

The united forum is  demanding immediate arrest of Adesh Kumar Gupta, GMTD, Ghaziabad and his accomplice in case of brutal murder of Com. Sukender Pal Singh, District Secretary, BSNLEU, Ghaziabad.

After closing all the offices entire non executive employees gathered infront of office of GMT BSNL Ludhiana at Bharat Nagar Chowk.

Addressing the gathering Com. Balbir Singh, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU, Punjab told that Com. Sukender Pal Singh was allegedly murdered in the chamber of GMTD Ghaziabad on October 22 this year.

He told that the District Union Ghaziabad was fighting against large scale corruption by GMTD. The matter of his corruption was brought to the notice of BSNL Management as well as Chief Vigilance Commissioner BSNL. GMTD was allegedly annoyed due to his complaints. He invited Sukender Pal Singh for meeting on October 22 alone and was allegedly attacked by the GMTD and his gunda elements.

Adding, he said higher leadership of the union met Kapil Sibbal, Telecom Minister on October 30 and demanded immediate action against the culprits but even after the four weeks of the murder no action has been taken against the culprits.

Further, he said on November 9 total strike was observed in UP Circle and the offices of the Deputy Collector and SSP Ghaziabad were totally sealed for two hours. The Deputy Collector assured immediate action but till date no culprit has been arrested. He further told that the struggle will be further intensified if the culprits are not arrested immediately.

Com. S. P. Singh, Circle Secretary, National Federation of Telecom BSNL Employees, Punjab Circle and Com. Pritam Chand, Senior Leader of NFTEBE, while addressing the gathering said that if the arrest is not made all the non executive workers of BSNL will take serious note and even will march to Ghaziabad. They urged upon the higher leadership to start the indefinite strike.

Com. Paramjit Singh, District President and Com. Avtar Singh, Assistant District Secretary, BSNL Employees Union strongly criticised the U.P. Police for not arresting the GMTD, Ghaziabad in alleged murder case of Com. Sukender Pal Singh, District Secretary after a long period. They called upon the workers to be ready even for indefinite strike if GMTD, Ghaziabad is not arrested.

Among others, Com. Budh Singh, Circle Treasurer, Com. Rajiv Sharma, Com. Gurcharan Singh, Com. Amarjit Chander, Com. Surinder Singh, Com. Jaswant Singh RBN, Com. D.S. Gill, Com. Sudesh Joshi, Com. Madan Lal, Com. Amrik Singh, Com. Vijay Verma, Com. Sohan Lal, Com. Satpal, Com. Gulzar Singh, Com. Prem Singh, Com. Jogesh Kumar CTO, Com. Atul Sharma, Com. Chaman Lal and Com. Karam Chand spoke.
