New Delhi, December 6, 2012: The role of SP and BSP yesterday at voting on FDI in Retail by abstaining from voting and giving a clear walkover to UPA Government has generated lot of resentment and anguish amongst traders, farmers, hawkers, small industries, consumers and labourers across the country.

To express their anger, the different stakeholders of retail today burnt a single effigy displaying both SP and BSP reflecting the face of "Jugaad Rajneeti".

The protestors shouted slogans against UPA and both SP and BSP holding protest banners in their hands. CAIT Organising Secretary Satish Garg, CAIT Delhi State President Narender Madan, Naresh Sirohi, Farmer leader, Ram Lal, and General Secretary  Satwant Singh, General Secretary Karol Bagh Traders Federation, CAIT National Secretary Ramesh Khanna, Saudan Singh of National Hawkers Federation and large number of people belonging to organisations of different stakeholders.

CAIT Secretary General, Praveen Khandelwal while lambasting UPA and both SP and BSP said that he unholy manipulative politics of the government has distorted the fabric of democracy. SP and BSP have been exposed, he said, adding the Opposition and abstaining cannot go together. The sinister nexus between UPA- SP and BSP has put a blot on democracy, he remarked.

The traders, farmers, hawkers, small industries, labourers, part of retail trade felt cheated by government and both parties. “We shall hold strong protest across the country against most irresponsible attitude of SP and BSP and sinister designs of the government to promote Jugaad Rajneeti in the country, he further said, adding they demand both SP and BSP to oppose and vote against FDI in Retail in Rajya Sabha, if they really care for farmers and small retailers, else traders, farmers and other sections of Retail Trade will jointly and strongly oppose SP and BSP besides other political parties who have supported FDI upto polling booth level in next assembly polls in 2013 and Lok Sabha Polls in 2014.

“We will not allow any political party to take ride on us”, he said.

Khandelwal demanded both SP and BSP to rethink on this issue which has adverse ramifications on livelihood of  crores of people of the country and still the time has not lost.

The SP and BSP should rise to the occasion and strongly oppose FDI in Retail in Rajya Sabha with commitment and vote against FDI in Retail and become the instrument for failing the plan of the government to handover Indian retail market to global retailers, he said, adding such step will bring laurels to both SP and BSP and the democratic fabric of the country.
