Chandigarh, October 23, 2015: Progressive Punjab Investor Summit got to a warm up session with Invest Punjab in association with Start-up Accelerator Chamber of Commerce starting  Business Idea competition program as a part of  Start-up weekend Panjab that started today at EDC situated at IT park

Inaugurating the weekend Mr Manjit Singh Brar, Additional CEO Invest Punjab and MD Milkfed said that start up summit is as per the vision of the Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal who has envisaged that Punjab should be employment generator rather than employment seeker. He informed that Start-up Weekend is a 54 hour of New Business Ideas marathon conducted on any given weekend, from Friday to Sunday. He said that Start-up Weekend Worldwide has been conducted in over 100 countries and has created over 15000 business Ideas and over 2000 Start-ups from them, some of them funded and running very successfully. He said that SACC is the regional partner for Start-up Weekend and Techstars USA. "SACC has already conducted 5 Start-up Weekends in North india, but nothing as massive and exciting as Start-up Weekend Punjab" Says entrepreneur and SACC President- Manipal Dhariwal.

He further said that to motivate and guide the Youth of Punjab and North for their career development, Invest Punjab in Association with SACC is conducting the first ever Start-up Weekend Panjab at EDC IT Park-Chandigarh from 23rd-25th October 2015.

It was informed that SACC, in last 4 weeks has conducted back to back sensitization sessions for the awareness of this prestigious program at the following Universities and Colleges and professional Hubs in Punjab:"We are expecting 15 teams this time and a very tough competition, both from students and professionals” says Sumeer Walia Director and co founder, SACC..who has lead the SACC team in conducting these sessions in Punjab.

These sessions were conducted at: IIT Ropar, PEC, ISB, Mohali, Thapar University-Patiala, Thapar Management University- Dera Bassi, Chitkara University, MBCT- Fatehgarh Sahib, Sus Tangori, Punjabi University, DAV College Chandigarh, UIET-Panjab University, Quark City, IT Park Chandigarh and Mohali etc. Over 1500 students and professionals have been sensitized in just 4 weeks for this program, as result over 65 participants from all over have registered for this competition

In is pertinent to mention here that over 65 aspiring entrepreneurs (students as well as professionals) will compete with their business ideas on 23rd October at EDC IT Park Chandigarh. They are mainly from Mohali, Chandigarh, Patiala, Nangal, Bassi Pathana, Rajpura, Fatehgarh Sahib, IIT-Delhi, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, ludhiana, Boston-usa, Phagwara, Panchkula, amritsar, Ambala, Dehradun etc.
