Ludhiana, April 29, 2019: CT University organised a guest lecture on Food Safety which was delivered by Simon Dawson, Senior Lecturer form Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.
Welcoming the guest, Vice Chancellor Dr Harsh Sadawarti, said, “Our body is healthy if we eat healthy. The basic human growth also depends upon the quality of food we eat. The educated and smart youth can be accountable for safety of food products right from the production till the consumption.”
While interacting with the students Simon Dawson said, “There is an immediate need of food safety by food producing companies. They must have regular customer updates, communicate with customers and having clear their doubts. Focus on case studies as it highlights the failures, study about food related crime and focus on prerequisite programmes. The food safety industry is flourishing and needs youth. This particular stream needs intelligent young minds to get trained in safeguarding the eatable items prepared.”
He further elaborated about the training that the students can be trained for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) by regular workshops, seminars, audio visuals and practical demonstrations by experts. For one’s daily life, he gave a tip to start ensuring the quality of raw material and must look at nutritional content and utmost important the expiry date of food product.
Chancellor Charanjit S Channi thanked Dawson for sharing his valuable inputs with the young minds of University.
