Professional Growth Development and Life Skills Programs Introduced in KMV

Jalandhar, May 8, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar which entered higher league of colleges by gaining Autonomous Status has introduced many new initiatives and reforms in education. Throwing light on these reforms Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi adumbrated that being the first autonomous women college of Punjab, KMV has made diligent and visionary endeavours to upgrade syllabus of all courses with 21st century skills. Along with 24 new programs many professional growth development & life skills programs have been introduced with each semester. The grades of these courses will be included in Detail Mark Cards. It is worth a mention here that these programs will be offered free of cost to the students of each semester. The value-based programs being introduced in various semesters are:
• Semester I- Foundation Programme
• Semester II- Moral Education
• Semester III- Personality Development
• Semester IV- Social Work
• Semester V- Gender Sensitization & Self Defence
• Semester VI- Reasoning & Mental Abilities
All these programmes are designed with the holistic development and growth of students in mind. Among other Student Development Programmes we have Foreign Languages taught by Foreign Teachers. Each year we have teachers from France, Germany and Spain to teach native languages. Counselling(Career and General Counselling) is offered throughout the year to the students. Centre for Competitive Exams prepares students for IAS, PCS, Bank PO, UGC, Defence Services etc. Institute of IELTS by guided experts provide on-campus IELTS training to the desirous candidates. Centre for Leadership Development and Lifelong learning grooms the students and inculcates leadership qualities in them. KMV Entrepreneurial Development Centre enhances the entrepreneurial qualities of the students by providing them adequate opportunities and organizing interactive sessions with inspiring entrepreneurs. Under Student Mentoring Programme each teacher mentors 10 to 15 students. International tie-ups with US Universities like Chatham, Boston and Lesley University plays a pivotal role in evolving KMVites into global citizens. Such wide variety of meaningful programmes reiterate KMV's commitment to the students meaningful futures. The recent success stories of the KMVites can be credited to the holistic development programmes at KMV. Our student Vijeta has been selected for PG Program in North Eastern University, Boston and that too after availing scholarship. Madam Principal concluded by saying that excellent placement of the students and the entrepreneurial endeavours of many students is because of these professional growth development & Life Skill programs at KMV as they not only prepare students for life & workplace but also helps them forge ahead.
